New Wave of COVID-19 in India: TARA Continues Supporting Children and Families

As a new wave of COVID-19 hits India, TARA once again mobilises its teams to protect children, ensure continuity in education and support vulnerable families across its programmes.

Protecting children across TARA homes

Children supported by TARA teams during COVID-19 pandemic in Delhi

With the resurgence of COVID-19, TARA is facing these challenging times with the same perseverance and resilience shown during the previous waves.

TARA Boys and TARA Girls are currently undergoing a quarantine period as a few children and staff members tested positive. All are recovering well under close health monitoring carried out by the teams. Despite this difficult phase, staff members have handled the situation with calmness and preparedness.

The children at TARA Tots are doing well, and the team continues to ensure their safety and emotional well-being. The dedication shown by managers, officers and operational staff during these times is truly commendable.

Ensuring continuity in education

Our Outreach Centre has temporarily closed due to the rising number of cases in Delhi. It is now essential to ensure that this closure does not interrupt the academic progress children have made over the past year.

To prevent learning loss, the Outreach Centre team has organised children into small groups and distributed worksheets, with regular follow-ups to help them with their studies and remain available by phone to support them.

Each group has a designated leader responsible for ensuring that children without phone access also receive the worksheets. This approach encourages teamwork, accountability and leadership among the children.

In addition, the team conducts weekly community visits to provide lessons and carries out home visits to assess the socio-economic conditions of families.

Resilience in the face of crisis

Since the beginning of the pandemic, TARA has navigated many unforeseen challenges and continued to support children and families. Although the start of the year has been difficult, our commitment to our mission keeps us moving forward together.

With solidarity, dedication and collective support, TARA remains determined to protect children and ensure they continue learning and growing safely.

Support children during times of crisis

In times of crisis, continued support is essential to protect children and sustain their education. Together, we can ensure they remain safe, supported and hopeful about their future.
